This year the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) held its Annual Meeting & Conference at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon on 19-22 July. This year’s conference theme was Be Bold.

Team ICLR were in attendance, with our Global Account Manager, Paul Hastings and our Business and Product Development Manager, David Cosway representing the team and manning the booth (No. 401).

As the industry discussed timely topics like generative AI, ICLR’s team were on hand to give in-person demonstrations of both our latest AI powered tool, “Case Genie” and our new AI summaries.

Case Genie takes a document or text uploaded by the user, analyses it through a series of processes, and then suggests similar cases, i.e. cases on the same or similar legal issues. Your uploaded text is treated confidentially, your full document text is encrypted immediately and only retained for the duration of the session. Only some derived data is stored for up to 24 hours so that you can access it through specific relevant screens in ICLR Online. Once logged out or having closed your browser, you will no longer be able to read the derived data.

Earlier this year, ICLR started providing subscribers with AI generated case summaries for unreported judgments on the Case Information pages as well as in search results. These summaries are a straightforward and fast way to get an understanding about what the case is about, by giving a “top down” view of the case in conjunction with a handy list of issues discussed within the case. The summaries and list of issues will now appear in the Case Info page of any unreported case.
