Mens sana in corpore sano

Latin for “a healthy mind in a healthy body” – the implication being that physical exercise not only improves the condition of the body but also improves the performance of the brain.

Another way of thinking about this is “mindfulness”: paying attention to the present experience and needs of the body (and the mind) in order to give one’s best and achieve an optimum work-life balance.

All legal professional can benefit from techniques to improve their wellbeing, and the Inns of Court and the Law Society have programmes available to help their members do so. Legal professionals often find their work imposes stress and it is important to address this before it tips over into a mental health issue.
