The ICLR 2012 Annual Lecture
View the transcript of ‘Our Lady of the Common Law’
The ICLR hosted its 2012 Annual Lecture at Lincolns Inn on Thursday 1st March. The Rt Honourable Lord Justice Laws delivered inspiring insights in to the common law justice system and the moral force behind its component parts.
He described the methods of the common law system as fourfold: evolution, experiment, history and distillation. “These elements operate together, in constellation with one another. Generally they involve what may be described as reasoning from the bottom up, not the top down. And I will explain why their dynamic is not only logical and reasonable, but moral.”
The ICLR would like to thank The Rt Honourable Lord Justice Laws for a thoughtful and compelling lecture.
